Frequently Asked Questions

Number of Cottages? One cottage which is approximately 350 ft. from main house, pool and parking area -- a garden cart is provided to transport luggage.
Cottage capacity and bed size? Cottage only sleeps two. The queen-size platform bed takes up most of the upstairs sleeping loft area.
Cooking facilities? A portion of the first floor sitting area has a small dormitory-size refrigerator, small sink, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There is a gas barbecue grill on the outside deck. Utensils, dishes, glasses, coffee, tea are all provided. To limit fire hazard and damage to cottage, guest may not bring electric frying pan or camp-cook stoves.

Furnished/Linens/Towels?

Cottage is fully furnished. Linens, towels, paper products, hairdryer, toiletries are all provided.
Tub or Shower? Cottage has a ceramic tiled shower (note: the bathroom is located downstairs from the sleeping area).
TV/INTERNET access? No. Cottage does have CD/Radio player -- with a small selection of CDs. Board games and books are also available.
AC/Heat? Cottage has both AC and baseboard electric heat.
Proximity to grocery stores? Five miles from local Richfood brand grocery store, and 12 miles from two Food Lion stores.
Proximity to restaurants? Four at 5 miles (includes 1 waterfront); Three at 10 miles (includes 1 waterfront); Two at 15 miles (includes 1 waterfront; Several at 19 miles. The majority are open Thurs - Sunday, and very few are open on Mondays. All of the restaurants are nice and fit a variety of budgets and tastes.
Pool and row boat shared with others? No. These are not public facilities. Life jackets are also provided.
How’s the fishing? Croaker and perch are common. Occasionally you may catch a small blue or rock fish. Success depends on tides, the season, and bait used. For hire fishing charters for river or Bay fishing are available locally. There are several freshwater ponds within 2 - 19 miles.
Boat launch facility? Public boat launch ramps are within 10 miles (water distance from launch to our dock is a much shorter distance -- less than 2 miles).
Children? This depends. There is one queen-size bed that occupies most of the sleeping area. The deep pool, deep-water dock, and open interior architecture of the cottage would not be conducive to a relaxing experience for a responsible adult supervising an active non-swimmer small child. We do not offer child care service and frown on diapers in the swimming pool.
Pets? Our four cats and chickens would not approve, nor would future cottage guests who may be allergic. Please leave your pets at home or with a quality care-giver.
Smoking? NO !! We have found that despite restricting smoking to outside the cottage, the smoke-permeated clothing and luggage of smokers impacts the freshness of the cottage.  Thus, we no longer accept guests who smoke.
What’s for breakfast? Breakfast is served on weekends and holidays and consists of homemade fresh bread (or biscuits), muffins, homemade jams and jellies, local fruit, orange juice, and coffee.
